Material
Patented drawn spring steel wire in compliance with EN 10270 part 1 type DH for all wire diameters up to 1.9 mm. For diameters between 2.0 and 10.0 mm type SH will be used (AMS 5112 / BS 5216-75). Our stainless steel springs are manufactured using spring steel wire material no.1.4310 in compliance with EN 10270 part 3 (AISI 302 / BS 301S21). The tolerances of the wire diameters comply with DIN 2076.
Design
The springs are right-hand coiled (clockwise).

The length of each spring is 1000mm, and the end coils are closed but not ground.

Thermal treatment
Endless compression springs are not thermally treated. This allows a slight bending of the end coils. The endless compression springs should ultimately be thermally treated in order to obtain fully operational compression springs from them. Thermal coating / 30 minutes at 300° C / air-cooled. We will undertake a thermal coating with pleasure whenever requested.
Loads
The maximum indicated load (Fn) is the load which each particular spring of this size can withstand, regardless of the number of coils. The stated values for the deflection (sn1) and the spring rate (R1) are the theoretical values for a spring of the particular size which has 1 active coil only. These values are for a spring in a relaxed, horizontal position, and can therefore be used to calculate the values for other springs. For springs with a different number of coils R1 should be divided by the number of active coils [R = R1 / n] in order to obtain the correct spring rate. The possible deflection can be determined by dividing the maximum load by the spring rate [sn = Fn / R].
Surface treatment
Normally the endless compression springs are made of spring-steel EN 10270-2-DH and -SH will be ligthly oiled after production. Springs made of material EN 10270-3-1.4310 will not be re-coated after production, as a surface protection is not normally required.
Quality control
All springs in our sales warehouse are quality controlled. This is carried out in our quality control department independent from the production process. The test for those springs destined for sale is carried out according to the DIN ISO 2859-1 inspection level II. The procedure normally consists of a simple spot check program, test-level AQL = 1.0. Every article tested recieves a test mark, which is recorded in the quality record book. All procedures are explained in our Quality Handbook, which we are happy to send to you if required. Standard springs are inspected for compliance to the stated tolerances. Specific tests can also be carried out and documented for each individual spring upon the customer's request. The following charges apply for the quality control certificates issued by us.
In compliance with:
EN 10204-2.1 (DIN 50049-2.1)
EN 10204-2.2 (DIN 50049-2.2)
EN 10204-2.3 (DIN 50049-2.3)
EN 10204-3.1B (DIN 50049-3.1B)
Testing of prototypes
Production compensation
The spring manufacturers require a production compensation, in order to retain the default parameters. Normally our endless compression springs are compensated through the number of the active spring coils (n). If required you may select another production compensation method.
Calculation
The calculation and design of the springs is carried out in accordance with EN specification 13906, section 1. The tolerances indicated correspond to the use of EN 15800 Grade 2 is used as standard.
