Torsion springs in 1600 spring sizes for fast delivery from stock made of stainless steel 1.4310 from Gutekunst. The torsion springs are made of round spring steel wire in a cylindrical shape with tangential straight legs and a linear spring characteristic in quality grade 2 (medium tolerance range) according to DIN EN 15800. The torsion springs are offered in the leg positions 0, 90, 180, 270 degrees and in the left and right winding direction. Simply select the right torsion spring in the spring shop and order it directly from Gutekunst using the shopping cart. CAD data, data sheets and spring characteristic diagrams are available for each torsion spring.
Torsion springs catalog range
Torsion springs in 1600 dimensions made of stainless steel 1.4310 (rust-free, max. Temperature 200 degrees) in wire thicknesses (d) 0.4 to 5.0 mm from stock.
Torsion springs are not thermally post-treated.
Leg shape, winding direction and leg position
As a standard, our torsion springs have the leg shape "TS1", with the legs extending tangentially and without bends from the spring body. The torsion springs are not tempered because the bending stress occurs with the direction of the winding. Therefore leg bends and leg shortenings can be made on the torsion springs afterwards. For a surcharge, the torsion springs can also be supplied with all leg bends. Here are some examples of leg shapes .
Leg shape "TS1"
Our torsion springs are available from stock both right-wound (clockwise) and left-wound. The subsequent letter of the article number "R" applies to right-hand wound, the subsequent letter "L" to left-hand wound.
The torsion springs are in stock in the leg positions 0 degrees, 90 degrees, 180 degrees and 270 degrees.

Spring guidance over mandrel
The torsion springs usually work via a mandrel that holds the spring in place. Since the spring body narrows when moving through an angle of rotation, on the other hand the spring would tip out if a mandrel that was too small was selected, we have specified a range of possible mandrel diameters for the respective torsion spring. The smallest possible mandrel diameter is indicated in the article overview with "Ddmin" and the largest with "Ddmax".
Powers
Because the length of the lever arm (RH) is different for each application, the highest achievable torque (Mn) was specified instead of the highest spring force (Fn). The highest achievable spring force (Fn) then results from dividing "Mn" by "RH":
In order to calculate the achievable force (Fx) at a certain angle of rotation (alphax), the following equation must be used:
Fx = (Fn / alphan) alphax |
"Alphan" is the largest possible angle of rotation specified in the table.
Spring test
All metal springs are quality checked. This is done in our testing department, which is independent of production. The testing of the torsion springs offered in the catalog range is carried out in accordance with DIN ISO 2859-1 test level II. The procedure is based on the single sample plan for normal tests with test severity AQL = 1.0. If necessary, we can carry out and document all test regulations up to and including individual tests. We offer the following factory certificates for each test item.

Calculation, tolerances and production compensation
The torsion springs were calculated in accordance with EN 13906 Part 3. The specified tolerances for the torsion springs correspond to quality level 2 from DIN EN 15800. In order to be able to adhere to the article dimensions (see DIN 2194), the production compensation of our standard sizes takes place via the unloaded leg angle (alpha).
With the values "alphan" and "Mn" the stress coefficient "k" is included. The stress coefficient takes into account approximately the highest calculated stress of the spring body.
Use of the torsion spring
The torsion springs can be used with the specified angles of rotation and torques for static or seldom loads.
