Ever tried to disentangle a pile of springs? If you have, then you’ll know just how annoying and time-consuming it can be, not to mention the enormous costs that the company incurs in doing so. Spring separating devices aren’t always that much help, either.
However, springs can be prevented from becoming tangled by using certain coil shapes. You may even have a good example of this in your hand right now (although it is not a typical Gutekunst product): simply unscrew the nearest ballpoint pen and look at the spring a little more closely! In most cases it will be wound in a block in the middle or at the ends. Of course, this has nothing to do with the spring characteristic. It is simply intended to prevent the springs getting caught up during the production process. Gutekunst uses this and similar techniques when requested to make it easier for customers to handle their springs.
Gutekunst Federn can supply various types of special packaging suitable for further processing. These make it easy to separate the springs. For series production, customers often ask for large quantities of springs in plastic tubes which allow the springs to be easily transferred to the assembly machine using compressed air.
Trays or honeycomb packaging for automatic or manual removal can also be supplied. Individual or blister packs protect the springs against damage and, in particular, contamination, which is essential for medical applications, for example.
